Species example: Socconus monstrum - Sock Monster
Attempting to classify and catalogue sock monsters to the individual level has proven most difficult due to the unique nature of this interesting and wondrous animal. Below you can find examples of our best attempts to separate the various strains of this species
Two headed
- Duo virens duopodesThese sock monsters have been found in many different patterns and colors, normally contrasting with their natural habitat to stand out. Having an extra head is both a benefit and a drawback. On one hand two heads helps with seeing in multiple directions but on the other, most of the time the heads try to move in those opposite directions - usually with disastrous results.

One headed two legged
- Unum virens duopodesThese little guys are most often then not using their bipedal abilities to get into all sorts of trouble, be it rearranging furniture, finding good hiding spots or stealing cookies, they usually use their smiles to get out of trouble. They also give great hugs with their big arms.

One headed, four legged
- Unum virens quattuorpedibusWhen they aren't using their strong legs to run races for candy this version of the sock monster loves to jump, show off and do most athletic activities. While they are silly and playful, without a sufficient supply of hugs, these fine four-legged friends get very very depressed, and no one likes a sad sock monster.

"Big bootie"
- MagniamoThe Magniamo are specially designed to sit (or be in the "downward dog" pose) comfortably in your home, or in your embrace. They get a pleasure out of sticking their tongues out at everything. In their culture, blowing "rasberries" is considered one of the highest expressions of respect.

"Tiny ones"
- ParvulisThese little guys are the most goofy looking of the bunch. Do not be fooled by their appearance, it is just a defense mechanism. They use their cuteness to get away with all their pesky, but brilliant, ventures and deeds of daring do. If you treat them nicely and make friends, they may share with you the spoils of their exploits.
